Gwendoline Davies

Partner - Head of Commercial Dispute Resolution

Gwendoline is head of the firm's Commercial Dispute Resolution Group. Gwendoline joined Walker Morris from City firm Herbert Smith and has been a partner since 1994. She is a highly respected litigator and has been involved in several reported cases, including On Demand Information plc v Michael Gerson (Finance) plc (a House of Lords case) , a number of Court Appeal cases – Triffit Nurseries and Others v Salads Etcetera Limited, Selby District Council v Samuel Smith Old Brewery, Bank of Scotland v Henry Butcher and Others and Swallow Hotels Limited v Commissioners of the Inland Revenue (First Instance) .

Gwendoline has extensive experience in all forms of dispute resolution, including arbitration, expert determination, adjudication and mediation. She is an accredited mediator with the Centre for Dispute Resolution, a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is also on the European Advisory Committee of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR). She has particular expertise in business contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, disputes relating to business and share sale agreements and environmental disputes. She regularly acts in cases requiring urgent remedies, such as applications for injunctions and specific performance. She is ranked as a leading individual in Chambers 2009, where she is described as, “an excellent litigator,…tenacious, commercially minded and extremely approachable” . She enjoys coming up with solutions to legal problems and believes that her 'sensible, intelligent and measured…Welsh fighting spirit’ comes in handy as a litigation lawyer. Her ability to think strategically and not follow a formulaic process is crucial to her success.
