John joined Walker Morris from Lawrence Graham in London, became a partner in 2000 and was appointed head of the corporate team this year. He has had wide corporate and commercial law experience including advising on public and private company take-overs/acquisitions, public market listings, private equity investments and joint ventures. John is recognised for taking the time to understand his clients, their businesses and their objectives. The 2009 edition of Chambers describes John as inspiring confidence in his clients with one client being quoted as saying that John “is very responsive to our requirements and always fulfils our requests successfully” .

John has acted for Hargreaves Services plc on a number of acquisitions and joint ventures including the purchase of Maltby Colliery, which was the first working deep mine to change ownership since privatisation of the coal industry, and more recently provided Takeover Code advice to Hargreaves in relation to a potential bid for UK Coal plc. John has also worked with Augean plc in connection with the acquisition of certain waste treatment businesses and last year advised the board of Augean in relation to takeover approaches.
