Andrew Williamson
Partner - Head of Town & Country Planning
The Planning and Environment Group, led by Andrew Williamson is independently recognised as a regional leader in its field and consists of a core team comprising 14 staff including three partners, four solicitors and two Chartered Town Planners. The team is one of the largest Planning teams in the region, both in terms of the number of lawyers and the volume of work it undertakes.
Walker Morris Planning Group as a whole was rated in the Planning Magazine in the 2008 survey as one of the top 30 planning law firms in the country. The Group is also recognised as a leader in the field in Chambers UK 2009 and The Legal 500 2008 Edition.
Andrew Williamson was voted as one of the UK's top Planning Solicitors in the survey by Planning Magazine for 2008. Andrew is also a Chartered Town Planner, a member of the Law Society's Planning Panel and was called to the Bar in October 2003.
Andrew has extensive advocacy experience, representing clients at public inquiry.
Andrew is responsible for all aspects of town and country planning and environmental work, advising a wide range of commercial and public authority clients. Instructions have ranged from dealing with all forms of development including energy and waste related schemes, residential, retail and commercial developments to Lands Tribunals and Compulsory Purchase Orders with experience of acting on both sides to judicial review and court work having won several key planning and environmental law cases which have had national prominence.
