Duncan is a Partner in our Banking & Finance, Restructuring & Insolvency Team. He works on the insolvencies of companies in the financial services and regulated sectors, with a focus on FCA-regulated businesses.  Over time, this has led to work on cross border advisory and international recovery matters for overseas financial institutions and investment funds.

Duncan has helped to develop our specialist financial services and regulated sector insolvency practice.

When asked what he finds most rewarding about his role, Duncan says, “taking what appears to be a hopeless situation and ultimately delivering a return for clients and stakeholders”.

Clients come first

This kind of work requires a responsive, level headed and calm approach, because, he says, “the situations we get involved in are, in the main, time sensitive and potentially extremely stressful for the people involved”.

Duncan recognises the importance of seeing things very clearly from the client’s point of view, so that he can understand what they want from any particular situation. Only then, can he create a strategy to achieve this.

Describing his working style as inclusive and collaborative, Duncan is “always keen to involve all members of the team because, in my experience, that achieves the best results as everyone has something to offer”.

Duncan has been at Walker Morris for 22 years, and notes that he has always found it to be a very inclusive place to work. “The entrepreneurial ethos that runs through the firm suits both the area in which I work and my working style”.
