Singleton Birch acquired by US lime giant

A multi-disciplinary team at Walker Morris has advised the principal selling shareholders on the sale of the 212 year old quarrying specialist, Singleton Birch, to US lime giant, Mississippi Lime Company, for an undisclosed sum.

Lime Quarry

Singleton Birch, based in Melton Ross, North Lincolnshire, employs more than 150 staff and will continue to trade under its existing brand and management team, led by Chief Executive Richard Stansfield. The company has a number of business lines including providing services and solutions to the renewable energy, water treatment and waste management industries.

Singleton Birch’s largest shareholder was the Katherine Martin Charitable Trust. By agreeing to the sale, the Trust has significantly diversified its asset base to the benefit of the three charities it supports NSPCC, RSPCA and Barnado’s.

Corporate partner Richard Naish led the Walker Morris Team with support from Thomas Mieszkowski, Adrian Moss, Hannah Simpson and Matthew Dickinson (corporate), Judith Pike and Jake Smith (Real Estate) and Jennifer Mann (Finance).

Richard Stansfield, Chief Executive of Singleton Birch commented:

“Being part of the Mississippi Lime family will enable us to invest more and power the growth of Singleton Birch. We’re delighted to have a partner for the next stage in our development that shares our culture and values.”

Richard Naish, Corporate Partner at Walker Morris added:

“It was a pleasure to support Singleton Birch and the principal selling shareholders. The sale represents a great fit for both companies and will allow them to reinforce their specialist expertise and strategic direction. We wish them every success for the future.”
