IP team shares copyright knowledge with Leeds Arts University students

Alan and Matthew’s IP workshop looked at how artists and designers can protect their work from being copied and how to avoid infringing the rights of others. They also covered what’s automatically covered by law, how copyright works and who owns it and the difference between trade marks, design rights and copyright.

Many Leeds Arts University graduates enter creative industries with half of the design graduates going into the arts. With a large number of graduates becoming self-employed, freelance or continuing to work on a creative portfolio. The Careers, Employability and Enterprise department run workshops, talks, events, mentoring and all sorts of other activities and opportunities for students and alumni to help prepare them.

Making Things Work is a series of weekly events open to both students and alumni that give insights into different elements of the creative practices. Speakers from the industry with lived experience are invited to help attendees build their network and gain skills to succeed in a supportive and enabling environment.
