Celebrating Best Companies accreditation

Walker Morris improves its score in the employee engagement survey for the fourth consecutive year

Walker Morris is celebrating its Best Companies accreditation – recognising it as having “very good” levels of employee engagement.

Walker Morris is one of only seven law firms to achieve a one star accreditation and is ranked as one of the top 75 companies in Yorkshire.

Best Companies is the UK’s biggest employee engagement survey provider and is most widely known for researching the Sunday Times ‘best companies to work for‘ lists. Best Companies has researched in excess of 3.5 million employee opinions across thousands of organisations and measures employee engagement across eight key areas, ranking each organisation with a score.

The accreditation comes on the back of a string of recent accolades for Walker Morris, including the firm’s ranking as a top ten law firm in the UK for the second consecutive year in the RollonFriday annual ‘Firm of the Year’ survey. Notably the firm was voted 2nd for career development and 2nd for pay. Walker Morris has also been nominated for four awards in the Legal Cheek 2019 Awards including: Most Admired Law Firm; Best Law Firm for Training; Best Law firm for Quality of Work and Best Law Firm for Social Life. It was also recognised in the Top 100 Undergraduate Employers Table as one of the best employers for graduates in the whole of the UK across all industries.

The awards recognise the significant investment in employee engagement over recent years including: agile working, shared parental leave and investment in training and development. Most recently the firm has been focusing on employee well-being and introduced lunchtime yoga classes and free fruit.

Tracy Foley, Head of HR commented:

“As a professional services company and one of the largest employers in the region we recognise the importance of attracting and retaining the best talent. To help us achieve this we’ve made significant investments in listening to and engaging with our employees.

The feedback from the Best Companies survey provides us with a baseline to build upon key areas for improvement. Identifying and setting benchmarks to measure our performance will allow us to keep moving forward as an organisation and continue to create an environment that makes our employees feel motivated and engaged. Ultimately, we believe happier employees help us to attract and retain the best talent, whilst at the same time making us more resilient and flexible as an organisation.”
