Finance Analyst

Are you an experienced finance analyst who asks ‘so what,’ ‘why,’ or ‘what does that mean’ when analysing data and identifying trends? We are recruiting for a Finance Analyst to join the Commercial Finance team.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Commercial Finance, Finance Business Partners and Data team, providing support to and gaining exposure across the firm. It’s a varied role where your responsibilities will include preparing analysis for budgets, reviewing rates and pricing, and presenting data insights in a way that non-finance stakeholders can easily understand and relate to.

In this role, you will become a super user of Power BI, our reporting platform, and collaborate with data teams as part of the data program rollout. You will have the opportunity to engage in tech and data projects, utilizing advanced Excel skills while learning Power BI and SQL coding. Ensuring data integrity by identifying and filling gaps, and implementing solutions to prevent future discrepancies, will be a key part of your job. You will play an important part in enhancing the quality of the firm’s data.

As the Finance Analyst you will:

  • Interpret and provide data to support the Finance Business Partners in preparing financial reviews to aid decision making, understanding the ‘Why’ and ‘So What’ to drive actions and improvements.
  • Analyse large data sets to prepare comprehensive financial reports, providing insights into performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support budget management, align spending, and achieve financial objectives.
  • Being led by the wider Decision Support Team, help with the production of financial analysis, forecasts and budgets that deliver the business strategy.
  • Act as key facilitator in the relationship between the Finance and Data Teams, communicating end user requirements coherently in order to gather relevant data and provide focused information to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the management accountants to support the production of accurate reports, maintaining precision across all financial records. Review and evaluate financial / accounting transactions to ensure data sets are complete and accurate.
  • Identify gaps in data sets and work proactively with internal stakeholders to remedy these, addressing process changes through discussion with wider team and senior management.
  • Support on project work as required, including but not limited to the testing and implementation of new systems and upgrades to the Practice Management System.
  • Any further reasonable duties as required.

We are looking for:

  • Reasoning ability – Given the necessary knowledge, the ability to solve complex problems through analysing data. This role requires advanced skills in excel, experience in Power BI and knowledge of SQL coding ould be desirable (although not essential).
  • Drive – Personable, engaging, highly motivated, resilient, organised, and able to manage differing (sometimes competing) priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to flex style to suit audience.
  • Team spirit – The desire to work hard to deliver the right outcome for the Team and Firm overall, supporting the right outcome to ensure Finance’s status as trusted advisor.
