Walker Morris Partner to speak on ‘Next steps for UK food waste policy’
Ben Sheppard, a specialist in waste and energy law at law firm Walker Morris will be delivering a keynote speech at the Westminster Food & Nutrition Forum keynote seminar “Next steps for UK food waste policy: innovation partnerships and energy recovery” on Thursday 20 October in central London.
The seminar will focus on the priorities for reducing food waste in the UK and the discussions will be chaired by Kerry McCarthy MP and Baroness Jenkin of Kennington from the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Food Waste with Guest of Honour Dr Richard Swannell, Director of Sustainable Food Systems at WRAP.
Ben, who is a Partner in the Energy, Infrastructure & Government Team at Walker Morris will be delivering a keynote address on a session titled “Future policy landscape for food waste regulation post EU referendum”. The session will focus on how UK food and waste policy may change in light of the EU referendum. The Energy, Infrastructure & Government Team at Walker Morris have advised on some of the UK’s largest and most complex waste and energy from waste projects including a number of projects in the food and drink sector helping turn food and drink waste into renewable energy.
The seminar will also provide an opportunity to discuss the future of food waste regulation in light of WRAP’s new voluntary agreement, developing collaborative frameworks to reduce inefficiencies in food and drink production and consumption and finally the new steps for the UK waste policy and its relationship with the European Commission’s Circular Economy strategy in light of the EU referendum.

The Westminster Food & Nutrition Forum aims to provide the premier environment for policymakers in Parliament, Whitehall and government agencies to engage with key stakeholders in timely discussion on public policy relating to food and nutrition.
