Walker Morris is delighted to announce that through various fundraising activities we have already raised over £10,000 for our Charity of the Year, Candlelighters.
In November 2022 Candlelighters was announced as the Walker Morris 2022/23 Charity of the Year and, as part of our 12 month partnership, we pledged to raise £10,000 by the end of October 2023. Now, just over halfway through this period, we have already exceeded this goal.
This has been achieved through a wide array of activities, including the Trainee and Paralegal Challenge – a month long event that is comprised of activities such as bake sales, a paralegal sleep out, a quiz night and a karate challenge. We have also organised our annual Christmas Raffle, Partner Cocktail Challenge Evening and taken part in numerous sporting events such as the Abbey Dash and Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon.
Each year, over 150 children in Yorkshire are diagnosed with cancer and Candlelighters make it their mission to bring light to every family affected. They provide emotional, practical and financial support, as well as bringing hope, by investing in vital research to improve the outcomes and lives of children with cancer. Candlelighters relies on the generosity of businesses and individuals to ensure its vital services are available for families.
Iain Blackwood Hobbs, Partnership Executive at Candlelighters said:
“To have raised £10,000 for Candlelighters so far in the partnership is incredible and the firms fundraising is making a huge difference to families going through challenging journeys. The money raised helps Candlelighters to continue providing practical, emotional and financial support to families dealing with a childhood cancer. We can’t wait to see what they will go on to achieve this year.”
Charlotte Bontoft, Chair of the Walker Morris Charity Committee added:
“I am delighted that we have reached this milestone – it is a testament to the commitment and efforts of the colleagues. We are looking forward to seeing how far we can exceed this target to support such a worthwhile cause.”
