We’re proud to announce our involvement with Give a Gift for Ramadan this year.
Ramadan is considered one of the holiest months of the year for Muslims. It takes place during the 9th month of the Islamic calendar. During Ramadan, Muslims fast during the hours of daylight.
Before the end of the month, Muslims are required to make a charitable donation known as Fitrana or Zakat ul Fitr. To show our solidarity to our Muslim colleagues, we’re encouraging all our staff to participate by fasting for one day and donating the cost of their lunch to Give a Gift or providing non-perishable food items and toiletries for care packages.
Jessica Harvey, Diversity & Inclusion Manager. “Making a charitable donation is a key part of Ramadan, but often an overlooked part for those who do not partake in it. This initiative is a part of the firm’s broader efforts to create a truly inclusive, equal and diverse workforce where everyone can bring their whole selves to work regardless of their background.”
Give a Gift is a Leeds-based charity that provides short-term financial assistance, food, clothing vouchers, and accommodation for those in need. We hope the donations will make a significant impact on the lives of the beneficiaries.
This initiative is a part of the firm’s newly launched internal community, Fusion, which aims to champion diversity and individuality, especially for those from ethnic and religious minorities. Fusion has already made strides in promoting inclusivity, including participation in the Race Equality Matters’ #MyNameIs campaign.
