Simon is a Director in our Corporate Group.  He is an experienced corporate and general mergers and acquisitions lawyer, having worked for a wide range of companies, institutions and individuals.

His work typically covers M&A transactions, joint ventures, equity investments, restructurings, and advising on corporate governance.

Hands-on and pragmatic

Describing himself as hands-on, Simon is very client focused and takes a proactive approach to solving his clients’ problems.

Simon is very much a team player and believes a collaborative approach is an essential part of ensuring that the client gets the most appropriate advice from the best specialists. At times, this means he must also be a good project manager.

“One of the things I really enjoy, and invest time in, is getting to know clients and understanding their businesses so that I can work with them as part of their team, dealing with issues that arise in the course of transactions in a pragmatic way that works for them.”

An open-door approach

Demanding timescales, complex deals and problems can be challenging, but Simon’s approach is to remain positive and working as a team, he is confident he can achieve client objectives.  “My working style is team based and open door. I encourage junior members of staff to take responsibility and grow as lawyers”.  This is in keeping with the Walker Morris ethos and something he believes is fundamental to positive outcomes.

Simon originally studied French at degree level, but has always been interested in law and business, and he enjoys the intellectual challenge that comes from solving legal problems in a commercial context.

A firm believer in supporting the next generation of lawyers, Simon has been a mentor at the firm throughout his career.
